The birth of Ula the label

A compilation of all my vision on a board that we would call Ula -The Label”.

Ula the label takes its identity from CEO and creative director Oge Ula. Its design journey is a resemblance of her personal journey in life. 

 

In 2021, Oge Ula embarked on a remarkable journey, giving life to her dream of creating a fashion label that truly resonates with her passion for design and style. Thus, Ula the Label was born - a tiny-sized brand with a colossal mindset.

From her earliest memories, Oge had an innate zeal for fashion, crafting unique looks and clothing pieces. She vividly recalls her childhood days, where she fearlessly cut up her mother's clothing to give them new life, always eager to explore creative possibilities. Over the years, her love for fashion led her on diverse paths, from accompanying her mother on fabric-sourcing adventures to becoming a fashion stylist and even launching fashion startups. Yet, all roads inevitably converged toward the creation of Ula.

 For Oge, the joy of making people feel beautiful is unparalleled. Each styling moment is a pure source of happiness, and if her clients feel like royalty, she believes her mission is accomplished. This relentless commitment to enhancing self-confidence through fashion is what defines Ula the Label.

Ula the Label caters to young and vibrant individuals, offering contemporary and bold fashion choices. It's not just a business for Oge; it's a calling she's always known was her destiny. Fashion isn't something she stumbled upon; it's the path she was meant to tread.

As a brand, we understand the importance of sustainability in today's world. We are committed to a sustainable approach to fashion production that aligns with our values:

  • Slow Fashion: Ula the Label embraces the concept of slow fashion, producing our collections in small quantities. This ensures that each piece is crafted with precision and care, reducing waste and promoting longevity in our designs.
  • Ethical Production: Our garments are designed in Toronto, Canada, and 70% of our pieces are proudly produced in Lagos, Nigeria. We believe in uplifting independent tailors and providing them with employment opportunities, contributing positively to local communities.
  • Eco-Friendly Materials: We are passionate about sustainability and minimize waste by using stock fabric left over from garment manufacturers around the world. This not only reduces textile waste but also gives new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded.
  • Sustainability Statement: Ula the Label is dedicated to making a statement not only through fashion but also through our sustainable way of producing. 

Working with gifted local Artisans in Nigeria as a way to showcase the amazing talent and skill in the country, while also supporting the individuals skill through the means of employment
